McDonald’s Jobs Available For US National Hiring Day Reaches 50,000

McDonald’s has opened up 50,000 jobs in several US branches as the fast-food chain declares Tuesday, April 19, 2011 as National Hiring Day, according to its official website.
According to McDonald’s, the jobs available ranges from restaurant crew to a salaried management employee.
McDonald’s currently has a workforce of about 1.7 million employees that is spread in 117 countries. The fast-food chain has over 13,000 branches in the US and 32,000 worldwide. Ninety-percent of McDonald’s branches in the US are franchise-owned.
The Oak Brook-based company is raising its workforce by 7.7 percent or about 700,000 jobs worldwide.
The McDonald’s chain in the Chicago area will have around 15,000 job openings. All applications will be accepted from 7 a.m. until 5 p.m. The company hopes to get their target of 50,000 working staff at the end of the day.
McDonald’s employees are paid above the minimum wage, that is usually over $8 per hour.
