Filipino boxer Mark Anthony Barriga won against Manuel Cappai of Italy on Tuesday, July 31, 2012, on his first fight in the London Olympics 2012.
According to reports, Barriga scored a 17-7 win against a much taller Cappai. In the opening round, Barriga unleashed a combination of punches forcing Cappai to a standing-eight count. The first round ended with Barriga leading at 5-2.
At the second round, Barriga widened his lead to 9-4 after he continued his barrage of punches. The third round was just the same, ending the fight with a 17-7 score.
Barriga‘s win is the first win of Team Philippines in the London Olympics. He is scheduled to face Birzhan Zhakypov of Kazakhstan in the Round of 16 this Saturday.
