Marcelito Po Moy, a 25-year old man who lives in Imus, Cavite went to Pilipinas Got Talent 2011 audition, a reality talent show in the Philippines, which was shown live at ABS-CBN Channel 2 on Saturday, March 5, 2011.
Apparently, Marcelito Po Moy drove the crowd wild as he sang with a female voice to the tune of ‘Narito Ako’ (I Am Here) by Regine Velasquez, and even sounded like her.
The audience as well as the judges could not help but praise the unusual talent of the young man, as the crowd went screaming to their excitement and even gave him a standing ovation.
After the request from the audience, Marcelito Po Moy sang a portion of ‘Sana Maulit Muli’, also a hit song of Regine Velasquez, with original version by Gary Valenciano.
Once again, the crowd went wild and show host Luis Manzano said ‘expected the unexpected’, which co-host Billy Crawford readily agreed. Judge Ai-Ai delas Alas supported the audience in requesting Moy to sing again.
This time, the male contestant sang a duet song by Ogie Alcasid and Regine Velasquez, ‘Hanggang Ngayon’ (Until Now), and the crowd was so amazed as well as the three judges, as Moy can also cover the voice of Ogie Alcasid.
Amusingly, Marcelito Po Moy sang the love song with back-to-back voices of both Ogie and Regine, and changing his voice from time to time.
The crowd went even wilder and Ai-Ai stood up from her seat and continuously clapped her hands, as Kris shouted ‘You’re good!”. Crawford suddenly went to the stage and jokingly punched him in the air to his excitement, while Manzano raised Moy’s left hand.
Later, even Judge Kris Aquino and ABS-CBN President and COO Freddie M. Garcia, also a judge of the contest stood up and happily clapped their hands. Mr. Garcia even raised his right arms to show his admiration. Ai-Ai then shouted “Tapos na ang contest!” (The contest is over!)
In an interview by PGT 2011 Judge Kris Aquino to Moy before he sang, he revealed that his father went to prison and a certain police officer ‘adopted’ him.
Earlier, he said he is currently jobless and he went to Manila because his mother and siblings lives there. Moy also admitted to Ai-Ai that he has no girlfriend, and the latter jokingly said that he now has a lot of them, apparently pointing to the cheering girls inside the studio.
Meanwhile, a lot of YouTube commentators said they believe that Marcelito Po Moy could be the Pilipinas Got Talent 2011 (Season 2) winner.
