LOS ANGELES - Katie Couric finally announced on Tuesday, April 26, that she will be leaving the CBS Evening News, as reported in TVGuide.com. Couric did not say about her future plans .
Katie Couric , 54, who became the first female solo anchor of a U.S. weeknight network newscast in 2006, said in an exclusive statement to People Magazine that she is looking for a television format that will allow her to engage in more multi-dimensional storytelling.
The details about when and where the show will air are still being discussed.
Couric is being pursued by such networks as ABC and her former home, NBC, and could remain on CBS with a new talk show deal.
Her contract ends on June 4 and CBS is expected to announce 60 Minutes correspondent, Scott Pelley, as her successor as reported earlier.
