Jared Loughner Update: Gabrielle Giffords Gunman, Ruled Mentally Incompetent to Stand Trial

A federal judge ruled Jared Loughner, Gabrielle Giffords’ gunman to be mentally incompetent to stand trial as one doctor declared Loughner as a paranoid schizophrenic. This was reported by US news sites May 25, 2011.
Jared Lougher killed 6 people and injured Gabrielle Giffords and 12 more in a killing rampage in Tucson. Reportedly this development can lead to Loughner being sent to a federal facility until he could be mentally competent to stand trial.

News reports further revealed though that Arizona law does not allow acquittals on the ground of insanity. If the accused is found guilty but found to be mentally incompetent, he is sent to a mental facility until he gets cured to serve his sentence. This may be Jared Loughner’s path.
