Bobak Ferdowsi, NASA‘s so-called Mohawk guy, as shown in the photo below, has gone viral right after the Mars rover landing on Monday, August 6, 2012; as tons of Twitter users were amazed with his hair style and could not help but voicing out their observations online. Some of them can be read below.
As shown earlier via live video by NASA, Mars rover Curiosity landed successfully at around 10:31 p.m. PDT on Sunday, August 5 (1:31 a.m. EDT, Monday, August 6), with NASA immediately releasing its first photo of Gale Crater on the Red Planet, along with the shadow of Curiosity.
However, it was activity Lead Bobak Ferdowsi’s hair that immediately caught the attention of the viewers. He was among those at the NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory who celebrate when Curiosity landed on Mars. He wore a red and blue tinged Mohawk hair, with yellow stars dyed on the side of his head.
As noted at Buzzfeed, Ferdowsi‘s Twitter account has only around 200 followers before the Curiosity landed on Mars, but immediately rose to thousands after that historical event; and has nearly 19,000 followers as of this writing, with Bobak saying that he cuts his hair differently for each mission.
“Folks asking about my hair, here it is. Been doing this for big events on #MSL #jpl #nasa #curiosity #daremightythings” Bobak Ferdowsi (@tweetsoutloud) tweeted that day, along with a link to his photo wearing the ‘cool’ hairstyle; as a response to those asking about his hair.
“So incredible to be a part of this team and all that we’ve accomplished. Impossible not to be an emotional wreck. Internet, you win this round. I’ll be back later, but thanks so much. Now going to celebrate with all my friends and team!” Ferdowsi tweeted later.
“Oh come on, is no one else getting a load of the mohawk guy in NASA control? Swag really is everywhere #MSL #SWG” Eloise (@catkinandteasel)
“That mohawk guy who works for NASA is more famous than the Mars Landing Expedition” Karl Archer/Sieg (@sieghrt)
“I love how the a NASA’s mohawk is trending and not its Mars rover. Hope the poor guy doesn’t take offense. Cool hair.” Cristina Haines (@cristinahaines)
“Who says people aren’t interested in space exploration? The guy in the NASA videos with the mohawk now has his own fanclub and is trending.” Julian Perez (@JulianLives)
