Apple has announced the latest developments on the MacBook Pro notebook, Mountain Lion and iOS 6 operating systems during a keynote at the 2012 Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) in San Francisco, California on Monday, June 11, 2012.
According to a press release by Apple, its new MacBook Pro features a Retina display, thinner and lighter design. Other features of the new MacBook Pro include an HDMI port, USB 3.0, and thinner Magsafe power port. (View the complete new MacBook Pro 2012 specs and features)
The desktop operating system, OS X Mountain Lion, will be available next month as a download from the Apple Mac App Store. It will be the Apple‘s ninth major release of its desktop operating system. Apple revealed that about 200 new features are included in Mountain Lion. Among its new features were already found in iOS include Messages app, Notification Center, system-wide Sharing, Facebook integration, Dictation, Power Nap, AirPlay Mirroring, Game Center, and the enhanced security of Gatekeeper.
The iOS 6, according to Apple, has over 200 new features. A beta version was reportedly released by Apple to iOS Developer Program members. Apple revealed that iOS 6 will be available this fall to iPhone, iPad and iPod touch users as a free software update. Among the new features of iOS 6 include: new Maps app with Apple-designed cartography, turn-by-turn navigation and an amazing new Flyover view; new Siri features, including support for more languages, easy access to sports scores, restaurant recommendations and movie listings; Facebook integration for Contacts and Calendar, with the ability to post directly from Notification Center, Siri and Facebook-enabled apps like Photos, Safari and Maps; Shared Photo Streams via iCloud; and Passbook.
