The nominations for the 2012 Grammy Awards were announced on Wednesday, November 30, 2011, with Kanye West leading the number of nominations, followed by Adele, Foo Fighters and Bruno Mars.

According to US news sites on Thursday, the Grammy nominations were announced as part of the televised Grammy Nominations Concert Live! at the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles.
As noted at Grammy.com, the 54th Annual Grammy Awards nominations have 78 categories for different kinds of songs including Pop, Gospel, Jazz, Country, Rap, R&B, Rock, and Alternative Music.
Nevertheless, famous artists are competing for the top categories which include Record of the Year, Album of the Year, Song of the Year, as well as Best New Artist category.
This year, Kanye West had 7 nominations, being the artist with the most number of Grammy nominations, which includes Song of the Year, Best Rap Album, and Best Rap Performance.
The 34-year old rapper is also nominated for Best Rap/Sung Collaboration for the song “All Of The Lights“, along with Rihanna, Kid Cudi and Fergie. The song is also nomination for the Song of the Year category.
On the other hand, Adele, Foo Fighters and Bruno Mars had six nominations each, with all of them competing for the Album of the Year award. Rapper Lil Wayne and dance-music breakout Skrillex have five nominations each.
The 54th Annual Grammy Awards will be held on February 12, 2012 at Staples Center in Los Angeles and will be aired at CBS.
