The 2013 Volkswagen Jetta Hybrid and the E-Bugster concept car were unveiled on Monday, January 9, 2012 at the 2012 Detroit Auto Show, as shown in the video below, along with the 2013 Dodge Dart, the 2013 Ford Fusion, among others.

As noted by Volkswagen (VW) on its official media website that day, the 2013 Jetta Hybrid combines a turbocharged 1.4-liter four-cylinder gasoline engine with an electric motor, which adds 27 horsepower.
According to the report, a unique feature of the new car by pressing a button, it can be driven in a pure electric mode up to a speed of 70 km/h and a distance of two kilometers, with zero emissions.
The engine is rated at 150 horsepower and 184 pound-feet of torque; and in combination with the 20kW electric motor, producing total 170 hp and providing 0-60 acceleration in less than 9 seconds.
The 2013 Volkswagen Jetta Hybrid, which sports a combined average fuel economy of 45 mpg, is distinguished by a new front air dam, rear diffuser and integrated rear spoiler, as well as unique aluminum-alloy 15-inch wheels with all-season tires.
A 220-volt, 1.1-kilowatt-hour, lithium-ion battery is placed behind the rear seat supplies energy to the motor, which of 60 individual cells with a combined energy capacity of five amp hours, which the car also noted to run in pure electric mode up to speeds of 44 mph when the battery is charged enough.
With the price of the new 2013 VW Jetta Hybrid not revealed but being expected to reach US dealers in late 2012, Volkswagen also unveiled the E-Bugster concept car, a two seater all-electric car.
The Volkswagen E-Bugster concept car draws its power from a lithium-ion battery, with the 80-kg light electric motor having a power output of 85 kW is being set to have a minimum driving range of 180 km, with zero emissions.
“The new Jetta Hybrid and the E-Bugster are showing once again that Volkswagen not only stands for emotion and driving fun, but also for sustainable and responsible mobility,” Dr. Ulrich Hackenberg, Head of Development for the Volkswagen brand, was quoted as saying.
